Swim Endurance Training

Have you ever wanted to do a Triathlon? Swimming can be the most daunting part of a triathlon for most people. In our 4 week program we will help you work on your technique, and increase your endurance. Monday and Wednesday at 6:00 a.m. Guests of the club would be charged additional guest fees per session.

Beginner Sprint Triathlon Training

Have you ever wanted to do a sprint triathlon? This 11 week program will prepare you for the Des Moines Escape Sprint Triathlon on September 3, 2017. Training will include preparation for the 400M Swim, 20K Bike Ride, and 5K run. This training will be held 4 days per week. Proper warm up and recovery, cross training and injury prevention will also be covered in this program' workouts will vary 45-75 min. Workouts will be provided for non scheduled days. Monday-Thursday 6:00 a.m. Only $40 per week. Participants need to be at least 13 years old and should be able to swim and from for 15 minutes and have a bike. Youth Summer Fitness and Jr. Tri Train

Keep your kids active this summer! We will swim, run, and bike this summer. Classes will be outside whenever possible! We will be working on Endurance, technique, cross training, proper warm up, cool down, and stretching. This program will also prepare participants for the Des Moines Escape Jr. Triathlon on September 2, 2017! Workouts will vary 45-60 Min. Youth Morning Summer Swim Team

Keep your kids active this summer with our Non competitive swim team. Classes will be outside whenever possible. Monday and Wednesday mornings at 7:15 a.m. Prerequisites are required and include: Able o swim 50 yards of freestyle, breaststroke, back crawl, and elementary backstroke. Junior Lifeguard Training

3 WEEK PROGRAM BEGINNING JUNE 5. THIS CLASS IS FOR 11-14 YEAR OLDS WHO ARE INTERESTED IN LIFEGUARDING OR WANT TO KNOW WHAT IT TAKES TO BE A LIFEGUARD. JUNIOR LIFEGUARDING HAS A STRONG FOCUS ON DEVELOPING SWIMMING SKILLS TO HELP PARTICIPANTS MEET THE LIFEGUARDING COURSE PREREQUISITE. THE COURSE ALSO INTRODUCES PARTICIPANTS TO LIFESAVING SKILLS, SUCH AS IN-WATER RESCUES, USE OF A RESCUE TUBE, AND FIRST AID, CPR AND AED. CLASS WILL BE BOTH IN THE WATER AND IN A CLASS ROOM. AFTER COMPLETING THIS CLASS YOU WILL RECEIVE AN AMERICAN RED CROSS JR. LIFEGUARD CERTIFICATE, CPR/AED CERTIFICATION. PRECOURSE INTRODUCTION AND SWIM SKILLS SESSION WILL BE SATURDAY MAY 27 AT 8:30 A.M. Kids Pool Play Time

Youth Swim Team

Our non-competitive swim team is a great way for kids to stay in shape and learn more about swimming working on endurance and stroke technique for Freestyle, Backstroke, and Breaststroke. Learn Self-defense for all ages with prairie life fitness. Prairie life fitness has paired up with Chung Kim's Black Belt Academy, a korean influenced martial art, to offer everyone of any age excellent training in self-defense, faster reflexes, a stronger mind and stronger body. This program will cover everything that is relevant for children( bullying, self-control, self-defense against a bigger attacker, discipline in the home and at school) and for teens to adults( what signs of trouble to look for, young girls and woman self-defense against a stonger attacker, core strength, confidence in one self to use defense when needed and becoming more alert to your surroundings). Mr. Mike Taylor, a 4th degree black belt with chung kim's black belt academy, has been training for over 21 years and teaching with prairie life now for 10 years successfully! Children and adults have enjoyed taekwondo parties, outings and tournament competitions with Mr. Taylor and Prairie life fitness. Prairie Life Fitness Youth Basketball: Our program emphasizes the importance of teamwork and a healthy lifestyle for all ages and skill levels with focus on communication and leadership through basketball. This level is intended for children 3+. Before entering Fish 1 kids should be able to be comfortable working with an instructor and comfortable putting their face in the water. The primary goals of Fish 1 are to gain a greater level of confidence in the water and to learn basic water safety. Kids will practice blowing bubbles, kicking their feet, and floating on their backs. All swimming in this level is done with the assistance of an instructor. This class has a capacity to ensure proper instructor to participant ratios. Once the class is full, participants will be placed on a standby list. ***There will be a $5 fee (per session) for participants registered on a membership qualified for free group swimming lessons who do not attend. We will also work with kids to begin learning introductory backstroke. In this level kids will practice pushing off the wall short distances to the instructor. The primary goals of Fish 3 are to learn to transition from stomach to back to breathe in freestyle. In this level we will introduce the basics of breaststroke. This level is intended for children 4+. Before entering Fish 4, kids must know freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and elementary backstroke. In Fish 4, we work primarily on technique for freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke. We will help kids learn to breathe to the side on freestyle, proper kicking for backstroke, correct arm pulls for breaststroke, and much more! Waterbabies

This level is intended for children 6 months - 3 years. In waterbabies, parents will work with babies in the water. The goal is to get babies more comfortable in the water before beginning group lessons. We play games, sing songs, and have fun while learning water safety. We will practice becoming comfortable kicking, splashing, and putting faces in the water to blow bubbles. Once the class is full, participants will be placed on a standby list for this reason there will be a $5 fee for participants registered who do not show up. Guests of the club will be charged an additional $6 per class.
